I was looking at a Rubbermaid shed the other day and was struck by the care and quality that goes into sheds these days, even the cheap garden sheds many of us have in our backyards.

The old days when a wooden shed was about as good as it gets are long gone. Look around the gardens of your friends and neighbors. You will find metal sheds, plastic sheds and even vinyl sheds. Get out your tools and build one!

Try doing this in a metal shed. It’s possible, but you may need special, proprietary shelving or bench units from the shed manufacturer. Or in a plastic storage shed. That is just not possible.

In a wooden garden shed however, you just need some lumber, a saw and hammer.

A well maintained wooden shed will keep your garden area and backyard tidy and neat for many years.
