So I want the garage to be a bedroom for myself. But i don’t know what i need and how much it’ll be.
Condition:
-No carpet
-Ceiling has storage and wood across it. Its kinda ugly.
-I want to dry wall the garage door.
-It has electricity, but no heating or cooling and it has a window.
-I want to paint it of course.
So any help with anything so what the price range would be?
thanks:)

I am looking to put a small ‘mezzanine’ area in my garage which currently has a lot of wasted space overhead. This will literally be used only to store seasonal boxes and accumulated clutter. The garage is a cavity building block construction on a concrete base with a steep pitch to the roof.
The span of the garage is 20 feet and I would like the storage area to be the full width and about 4 feet deep – just a big shelf I guess!
Is this something that can be spanned with timber joists just using hangers? Does this kind of project require planning permission and qualified engineers to carry out?
Thanks in advance

i am in the process of building a new garage and can not seem to find on the internet (I am not home currently) a price, or even a ballpark, for a 3.5in x 16in x 42ft structural beam. I am looking at Microlam, but another brand is fine too. Also, i will have storage trusses above, minimal household storage expected, is a 16in beam about right if I put one lolly column in the middle? BTW, live in US on the East Coast
